About Lyosha Blinnikov: A Short Autobiography

Nookkin in code

My name is Lyosha, usually known online as Nookkin. I'm a (fairly) young self-taught programmer, web designer, student, writer, and computer repair guy, among other things.

I received my first working computer, a Thinkpad 560 with a 133mhz Pentium processor, when I was 13 years old. Having been interested in electronics since age 7, I soon began to experiment with Windows. This led to me "hacking" my video driver to allow new display modes, changing my "start" button into a "stop" button, and learning more about how Windows worked. I also began learning Visual Basic 6 through a book I had received as a gift.

Now, several years later, I know HTML, CSS, VB6, VB.NET, PHP,MySQL, C++, and JavaScript. I've written Windows applications and have created websites. I've set up various operating systems, including multi-boot configurations and every version of Windows from 3.1 to 8. I've built and repaired computers and set up networks. I've tweaked and hacked every one of my computers in some way. And I enjoy doing all of this.

I currently work at an IT hosting company as an internal developer. When I'm not at work or in class, I design, build, and repair things, usually for fun and occasionally for profit.

My website

I made this site in order to express myself online, to give the world some of my knowledge, and to have a place to put the software I made. On this site, you will find my blog, software, articles, literature, and more... covering topics from computer science to cell phones to science fiction stories.

I designed, developed, and coded this site by myself, from the ground up. This includes the visual design and layout, blogging platform, rudimentary content management system, and other code that makes the site work. All pages validate as XHTML 1.0 Strict and CSS level 2.1.

I try to keep this site updated regularly, but school and my job do take time away from working on my site. I will still try to post something new at least once every few weeks. If you'd like to stay updated when something new is posted, you may subscribe to my RSS feed.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, comments, suggestions, or concerns, or if you would like to see an article or blog entry on some topic. Enjoy your visit!
